We helped a small restaurant chain stay open and implement a proactive solution to address everyone’s fear about eating out while staying safe from COVID-19. Based on guidance for COVID-19 response for the hospitality industry as well as recommendations from CDC, OSHA, and ASHRAE, the client wanted to incorporate combination of solutions to create the safest possible environment for the their patrons and employees:
- Increase the airflow in the dining area to reduce airborne respiratory droplets in the breathing zone lingering for long periods of time
- Consult an HVAC professional to investigate increasing filtration efficiency without restricting airflow
- Consider the use of portable HEPA air filtration to target the breathing zone and airborne pathogens
- Consider upper room UV to address surface contaminants in the air handler to ensure clean air distributed throughout the restaurant
AirBox developed a Safe Air Plan to address the client’s additional airflow and filtration needs. Four restaurant locations were outfitted with AirBox Peak-S units, an AirBox Apex unit, or a combination of the two, providing more than enough cubic feet per minute (CFM) of airflow to disrupt, displace, and remove airborne particulates from the dining areas at each location (all between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet).
